Our Podcast Acceptance Policy
Short version: All black podcasts welcome, as long as you aren’t trash.
Long version:
At the Black Podcast Hub, we embrace the diversity of the Black Experience through all walks of life. We respect the fact that there is no one voice that can encapsulate what Black people enjoy and find valuable.
Because of this, we welcome podcasts from all walks of life, all genders, all sexual orientations, and all socioeconomic positions. That being said…
We do not condone podcasts that serve to further the oppression of any marginalized group. That means podcasters and podcasts that are homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, fat-shaming, slut-shaming, anti-black, or otherwise problematic are not welcome here.
As a small group of people doing this on top of our already busy and eventful lives, we can’t possibly listen to and police every single podcast that ends up in our directory.
Which means that sometimes, problematic podcasts will get in. However…
If YOU see/hear a podcast in the Black Podcast Hub listings that should not be there, you can report it to us directly. Fill out the form at the bottom of this page and include a link to problematic show in question and we’ll follow up and remove the podcast if it meets our threshold of what doesn’t belong here.
NOW, a few notes before we go any further:
- Please don’t dig back into years of archives to find the one problematic show of that podcast you don’t like to try to get it removed. We believe that no one is perfect, people are allowed to make mistakes, make amends, grow and move forward without having to constantly defend the unacceptable thing that they did and made amends for 5-20 years ago.
- Please don’t report podcasts just because you don’t agree with their stance. Unless the stance itself is trash as listed above, we’re just going to shrug and keep it moving. Even if we agree with you. Even if they hate the Black Panther movie and collect ceramic chickens and believe the Earth is flat. We may (will) mock them mercilessly, but they are free to remain in the directory.
- Please be patient. We are literally running our lives, the lives of small children, pets, and miscellaneous guests along with our own podcasts and this website. So it might take us a bit to review your report. Trust that we will banish the interlopers in due time.
- We might disagree with you. Sometimes, you see trash and we see slightly out of date leftovers. Not ideal, but not worth throwing out just yet. It happens like that sometimes. Please don’t take it personally.
